Through the Wild captures an elephant moving quietly forward, emerging from a layered landscape of botanical forms, pattern and abstract shapes.
Soft washes and earthy ochres sit alongside deeper blue-grey tones, while delicate foliage and stronger geometric elements create a sense of habitat without describing a specific landscape. The elephant remains calm and commanding at the centre of the composition, its detail contrasting with the looser, more expressive marks surrounding it.
The piece reflects my interest in combining traditional wildlife painting with a more contemporary approach, exploring both the beauty of the animal and its connection to the natural world.
